Who We Are
Landmark’s tradition of pioneering and innovating secondary markets spans three decades across a range of alternative asset classes including private equity, real estate, and infrastructure. Our platform encompasses five global offices with a staff of over 120 employees, including over 60 investment professionals. Over the course of our 30-year history, we have invested across over 2,300 partnership interests, driving unique and proprietary transactions through our deeply established relationships with institutional investors, fund sponsors, and market advisors. We have formed an aggregate of 31 fund vehicles capitalized with over $27 billion in commitments while maintaining a consistent investment philosophy: our “thought partner” approach to investing through which we provide unique and customized liquidity solutions, while capitalizing on the potential benefits of secondary investing. Such benefits typically include enhanced diversification, smoothing of the “J-curve,” and exposure to durable assets, while delivering non-market excess returns to our investors.
Landmark was founded in the town of Simsbury, Connecticut in 1989 and we launched the market’s first private equity secondary fund in 1990. To date, Landmark has formed 18 private equity funds capitalized with $18.0 billion of commitments.
Landmark expanded its market coverage through the launch of the market’s first real estate secondary fund in 1996. Since that time the firm has formed eight real estate funds that are capitalized with $8.2 billion in capital commitments. Landmark has developed a large team of professionals with extensive global property experience that is fully dedicated to its real estate secondaries strategy.
In 2013, seeking to capitalize on its experiences in the private equity and real estate sectors, Landmark launched a third investment vertical, with a fund and team dedicated to infrastructure secondary investments, and to date has raised $707 million in commitments to its infrastructure secondary strategy.
Landmark’s investment teams are supported by a robust enterprise platform integrating finance, legal, compliance and other resources. Of note, Landmark maintains a dedicated Quantitative Research Group that generates leading industry analytics and research to support the firm’s origination, underwriting and portfolio management activities.
